Adelaida Guia, a talented artisan from Baguio, has officially secured a Guinness World Records title for crafting the largest crochet mandala created by a single individual. This extraordinary handmade masterpiece represents the culmination of unwavering patience, resourceful use of recycled materials, and years of devoted commitment to her artistic practice.
Guinness confirmed Guia’s achievement on September 17, 2026, as documented in recent reports. Her remarkable creation, titled the “Wishing Star Mandala,” spans an impressive 29.359 square meters, boasts a diameter of 6.114 meters, and weighs approximately 32 kilograms.
Crafted entirely from recycled yarn and repurposed rug material, this vibrant mandala emerged through collaborative public crocheting sessions held at Burnham Park’s Rose Garden in Baguio City. Since relocating to the city in 2016, Guia has gained recognition for displaying her impressive giant mandalas throughout Session Road.
The creation underwent rigorous independent measurement and verification as part of Guinness’s comprehensive application procedure. Prior assessments validated the dimensions of 29.359 square meters in area and 6.114 meters in diameter before the record was ultimately acknowledged.
Guia’s record-breaking endeavor benefited from substantial backing via UP Baguio’s SILBI-TBI incubation program, alongside collaborative support from the Baguio City government, Creative Baguio City Council, and various private sponsors.
